Little Girl
Released on September 7th, 2026, Little Girl arrives as the vault track of the project—recorded back in 2022 during the earliest sessions of this catalog, but held back until now. As part of closing out Heartbreak Files: Vol. 1, bringing this song to light feels like tying together the loose ends of where everything started, before moving forward into what comes next.
The production of Little Girl is an exercise in tactile, hands-on sound design. Built out from a quiet acoustic foundation, the arrangement relies heavily on organic textures rather than standard virtual instruments. At one point, to capture a specific harmonic resonance, a guitar stripped down to a single string was struck with pencils to draw out unique overtones. Microphones were placed around the room to pick up the physical impact of objects being tapped and struck, giving the track a raw, physical environment. A defining moment in the arrangement came when a traditional piano melody was swapped out for the delicate, wind-up mechanism of a vintage music box—a subtle nod to the song's emotional core and the fragility of the instrumentation.
Lyrically, the song stems from a very specific, heavy moment. It was written after learning from a distance about the loss of a beloved doggy belonging to someone from the past—a dog that had been part of their lives since childhood. Caught in a situation where direct contact was no longer an option, the realization of someone's silent suffering turned into an internal dialogue of care and quiet concern. It blends that deep, lingering worry with the bittersweet realization of letting go: acknowledging someone's freedom while accepting the distance that now sits between them.
Far from being a straightforward sad ballad, the track ebbs and flows, building in emotional weight as the instrumentation swells before settling back down. Holding onto this recording for years wasn't about hiding it, but about waiting for the right moment to close this initial chapter. Little Girl stands as a final look back at the foundation of this project—raw, deeply personal, and handmade from the ground up—before turning the page toward new ground.

Hey little girl, sweet smile and pretty eyes How is your soul How is your heart I'm sorry, my dear If I can't move on I know you're free So fly away, my love
Darling, save your tears Don't let them break your heart There's no need to run There's no need
Hey little girl, sweet smile and pretty eyes How is your soul How is your heart
